Avenged Sevenfold - Album Waking The Fallen

Waking the Fallen may be the second studio album by American rock band Avenged Sevenfold, released on August 26, 2003, by Hopeless Records.

The album was published as 2x12", LP, Repress, 33 ? RPM, Grey Marble on 2008 in US.[1] The album was certified gold on July 15, 2009, although it only sold 3,000 copies on its first week of release. As of August 2014, they have sold over 693,000 copies in the United States. The song "Eternal Rest" appears on Kerrang's "666 Songs You Must Own".

More clean vocals are featured about the album than you are on their debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. The only song within the record that doesn't contain screaming is "I Won't See You Tonight (Part 1)"; Sounding the Seventh Trumpet has three songs with virtually no screaming.

As with Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, the majority of the songs because of this album will not be usually performed live, although, "Unholy Confessions," "Chapter Four," "Eternal Rest," and "Second Heartbeat" are a staple thus to their set since release of Waking the Fallen. The song "Eternal Rest" was featured around the Soundtrack towards the movie Saw IV.

It may be the band's first full-length album with new lead guitarist Synyster Gates and bass guitarist Johnny Christ.

Musical style

The record continues the metalcore sound this rock band had officially used on their previous album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, but features noticeably more clean vocals. Being the 1st release by this guitar rock band to feature lead guitarist Synyster Gates, the record also features some guitar solos.[4][5] The record is notable among fans on account of M. Shadows' slightly higher do my part his voice and high notes he sings on songs like "I Won't See You Tonight" (both parts). The album also leans more towards hair band rather than punk rock.

Reception

Waking the Fallen was highly acclaimed. It received an optimistic profile in Billboard, with all the magazine comparing Avenged Sevenfold to bands like NOFX, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. In other profiles, the album also received comparisons towards the Misfits and further comparisons to Iron Maiden. "Chapter Four" was featured in video gaming such as NASCAR Thunder 2004, Madden NFL 04, and NHL 04, which helped this guitar rock band get recognized and sign an agreement with Warner Bros. Records. Overall reviews on Ultimate Guitar were very positive plus it holds the highest overall rating of the Avenged Sevenfold studio album on Ultimate Guitar.

Videography

A live concert video was shot at Warped Tour 2003 for the initial single from Waking the Fallen, "Second Heartbeat". A video was made to the second single "Unholy Confessions" on March 6, 2004, using live footage set on the studio track. It featured the fans before and during an Avenged Sevenfold concert. According to vocalist M. Shadows, it turned out requested by their new label, Warner Bros. Records, to be able to publicize the group before their 2005 album City of Evil.

This video was your second attempt at a video for that track. The previous attempt would be a concept video made the previous fall (2003). The band had not been happy with all the final product, however, and opted to re-shoot film, on this occasion as a live show. The new video went into rotation on MTV2's Headbangers Ball.
